HPE 2.5" SFF Smart Carrier (SC) Hot-Plug
Standard hot-plug caddy for 2.5" drives in Gen8–Gen10 servers.
- Gen8
- Gen9
- Gen10
These are the parts nobody plans for and which then stop an installation dead: a drive that will not seat without a caddy, a server that cannot be serviced without rails, a processor that throttles itself without the right heatsink.

Standard hot-plug caddy for 2.5" drives in Gen8–Gen10 servers.
Hot-plug 3.5" caddy for LFF chassis.
The Gen10-and-later carrier; it is not interchangeable with the older Smart Carrier.
Sliding rails with a cable-management arm; without them, servicing means pulling the server out of the rack entirely.
High-performance heatsink for processors above 135 W; with the standard heatsink the server throttles itself.
High-performance fan kit; required for high-TDP processors or a fully populated drive cage.
Prices are based on the global market average in euro.
The Gen8–Gen10 Smart Carrier and the Gen10-and-later Basic Carrier look alike and do not interchange. The only correct criterion is the server generation itself. If you are unsure, send us the server serial and we will confirm the exact model.
An iLO Advanced licence cannot be moved to another server; you need one per machine. What it unlocks genuinely changes an operator’s day, though: remote graphical console, virtual media mount and crash capture — installing an OS and fixing a boot failure with nobody at the rack.
If you never intend to touch the server, no. But sliding rails let you pull a running server halfway out and swap a drive, a fan or a DIMM while it works. Without them, every service job means powering down, unplugging everything and lifting the whole machine out — which is exactly when you disturb another server in the rack.
