The HPE H240ar Smart HBA AROC 2-Port installs in HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers and provides 2 ports. This is an HBA, not a RAID card: it presents the disks straight through to the operating system with no array layer. That is precisely what ZFS, Ceph and any system that manages its own redundancy need — a hardware RAID layer only gets in the way there. A compatibility detail that costs money to get wrong: an AROC card (which mounts in the board’s dedicated slot) and a PCIe card are not interchangeable, and each generation has its own AROC slot.
