HPE 4TB 6G 7.2K SATA 3.5" LFF

The HPE 4TB 6G 7.2K SATA 3.5" LFF is a 4 TB 7.2K rpm mechanical drive on a SATA 6G interface, for HPE ProLiant Gen8 / Gen9 / Gen10 servers. For archives, backups and large files a mechanical drive still delivers the cheapest gigabyte. Not for an OS volume or a database, where latency becomes the bottleneck. Two practical notes. First, the drive has to come in the caddy for its generation — the Gen8–Gen10 Smart Carrier and the Gen10-and-later Basic Carrier are not interchangeable, and a bare drive will not seat in a hot-plug bay. Second, in a RAID array every member should have the same capacity and speed; if one is smaller, the controller treats every disk as if it were that size. Every drive is SMART-checked and surface-tested before it ships, and its power-on hours are disclosed.
