About this server
The DL180 Gen9 is built where capacity matters more than cores; tens of terabytes at a budget price for backup and enterprise archiving.
Every organization needs somewhere to keep large volumes of data: backups, video archives, a shared file server or CCTV storage. The DL180 Gen9 is built exactly for that; instead of chasing high core counts, it fills a 2U chassis with big LFF drives to deliver abundant space at the lowest cost per terabyte.
It still carries dual Xeon E5 v3/v4 sockets and DDR4, so it has plenty of horsepower to run backup software, a software NAS (TrueNAS / Unraid) or an enterprise file server. iLO 4 management and a RAID controller are in place too. If your goal is cheap, reliable storage, this model is the best place to start.
