Inference or training?

The cards in this category are built for inference: running a trained model against incoming requests. For training large models their 8 to 16 GB of memory is not enough and you need a higher tier. If your use case is video transcoding or virtual desktops, these cards are exactly what you want.

The chassis has to be ready for it

Before ordering, confirm your chassis has the GPU airflow kit and that the power supply has headroom. Some configurations need a larger supply and the high-performance fan kit; without them the card is either not detected or overheats under load and throttles itself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fit a gaming graphics card in a server?

Physically sometimes yes, but with two serious problems. First, a desktop card has its own fan, which fights the front-to-back airflow of a server chassis and leaves both hotter. Second, server drivers and virtualisation support (vGPU) do not exist for gaming cards. For production work, buy a server card.
